Hip Hop Academy (HHA) ain’t lookin’ back from its ode to Obama (“Change: the Obama Song”) which was carried into the West Wing by Brooklyn’s finest political cats. In the Fall, our stable turned out a hip hop operetta warning the krewe to stay protected from HIV/AIDS. The disease may be off the front pages, but it’s still death in the bedroom and the street. St. John’s U, the client, spelled love LUVIT!
Got game? Think you can spin it or spit it? You’re the next King or Queen of Hip Hop? You’ll learn the bones with us. Sure, you can write rhymes, but can you read a contract thick as a book? There’s blood in the water out there, and some dudes can’t even swim. Anybody can swallow the mic a couple times. Ever hear of MC Hammer? The smart money’s in production … or producing … or promoting … or laying down a hot beat for Nas . . . . AND if you got the sizzle, we’ll still want your steak!
At the Hip Hop Academy you’ll earn the skills you need for the Big Dance after high school. But check it out: without that degree, no thermostat’s gonna keep you warm.
